A Mechanism for Creating Knowledge Bases Supporting Contradictory Models
نویسنده
چکیده
In many domains, users from varying backgrounds (and with varying conceptualisations of the domain) seek advice from an expert and the expert adapts their reasoning and explanation for the background of each user, using stereotypical categories of user (for example physicist or engineer). In earlier papers, the viewpoints mechanism was presented as a means of replicating this behaviour in knowledge-based systems. This paper both illustrates and extends the ideas described in earlier papers, presenting a system which can not only cater for diiering classes of users (in this case a beneet claimant and an adjudicator), but allows them to interact through the knowledge base. The beneets of this approach are then discussed.

The concept of knowledge bases supporting the IT Systems Integration Model
This paper presents main concepts regarding the design of a knowledge base in order to support IT systems integration. The main goal of the research is to develop a universal method of integration of various systems concerning any possible area of interest. The concept is based on creating a generic mechanism which would support the decision regarding the choice of the integration model. The mo...
متن کاملKRISYS - a KBMS Supporting Development and Processing of Knowledge-based Applications in Workstation/Server Environments
Knowledge Base Management Systems (KBMS) should provide not only efficient and reliable management of knowledge bases (KB) but also means for constructing such KB in a stepwise fashion. In this paper, we present a KBMS prototype tailored to workstation/server environments that can be used flexibly as a tool for dynamically defining KB contents during application development and efficiently empl...
متن کاملDocument-Oriented Views of Guideline Knowledge Bases
A computer-interpretable guideline knowledge base can be a very large network whose information content is difficult for developers and clinicians to comprehend and review. We created a method to annotate a guideline model and use the annotations to export the guideline knowledge base in an XML format that can be transformed into a readable document. We applied this method to knowledge bases de...
متن کاملApproximate Reasoning Using Di erent Types of KnowledgeRepresentationJoachim
types of knowledge I Introduction Fuzzy rule bases are built of linguistic, qualitative knowledge. By using fuzzy rules we are able to specify simple models of complex systems. But, we have to pay a price for this simpliication. In general, fuzzy knowledge is not perfect, but gradually incomplete and gradually inconsistent. In many situations, expecially when simple knowledge bases are involved...
متن کاملProblem-Oriented Corporate Knowledge Base Models on the Case-Based Reasoning Approach Basis
One of the urgent directions of efficiency enhancement of production processes and enterprises activities management is creation and use of corporate knowledge bases. The article suggests a concept of problem-oriented corporate knowledge bases (PO CKB), in which knowledge is arranged around possible problem situations and represents a tool for making and implementing decisions in such situation...
